It was quite a while back now, but looking through our files on the Cloud project from 2011 I thought that it needed to go on the website. Tree houses have so many associations with childhood and escape, but there are relatively few chances to build a good quality one. We were so pleased to be structural engineer for this example, working with architect Masanori Kuwahara.

The deck structure uses a mutual supporting interlock grid of timbers, or lamela structure, in a lozenge type grid. This means that the joints can be very clean while not causing any of the timber sectional strength to be lost at each joint.
